Organizing your socks, underwear and bras can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. It all depends on whether you’re willing to spend an afternoon origami folding your thongs. While these daintily folded items look amazing in theory, in practice, they can be a real time suck.

As I see it, there’s no sense in spending so much time diligently folding something that we run through like water. Instead, I think it’s more important to invest time neatly folding larger items like T-shirts and sweaters, which, being larger, can give you a more satisfying visual thrill; however, if neat rows of compactly-folded Hanky Pankys brighten your day, then feel free to fold, fold, and fold some more!

In my mind, however, the easiest, most efficient way to organize socks, undies and bras is to dump them (gracefully) into their own bins and call it a day. I’m partial to these drawer organizers, which slot seamlessly into any chest of drawers and rest just as nicely on any closet shelf. By separating out each category, you’ll be able to access everything in a true jif, and you’ll keep track of everything you have (no more balled up ski socks hidden behind your undies).

Another solution is the tried and true drawer divider, which organizes your socks, undies and bras like a charm. You can use one or two in each drawer, and adjust their placement to suit the volume of each category. If you have a ton of underwear, consider a drawer divider over a bin, which allows your items to spread out more.

Finally, no sock, underwear and bra drawer is complete without a scented sachet to liven up the place. I like these lavender sachets, but you could also kick things up a notch with a Diptyque scented oval. I’ve generally found that the lavender sachets start to lose their scent after a couple of years, whereas, the Diptyque scented oval lasts slightly longer.

The takeaway: no need to overthink this part of your wardrobe. So long as you know where everything is, and can retrieve and replace everything easily, that’s all that matters!

Happy drawerganizing!
